Sergeant Liam Ben Hamo, Hy”d, was 19.5 years old when he fell on the 13th of Iyar, 5786 (April 30, 2026).
Liam was born on the 4th of Cheshvan, 5767 (October 26, 2006), to Moshe and Galit. He was a loving older brother to Koren and Daniela.
Born and raised in Herzliya, Liam attended Hayovel High School, where he stood out for his warm and outgoing personality, his joy for life, and the determination he brought to everything he set his mind to.
Liam loved life with all his heart. He loved spending time with friends, going to the beach, playing padel, going to parties, and making the most of every moment. Another great passion of his was Maccabi Tel Aviv. A devoted fan, Liam was part of the Gate 11 supporters’ community, where he found friendship, a strong sense of belonging, and countless moments of excitement and joy.
One of Liam’s greatest dreams was to travel the world with his friends after completing his military service—to explore, experience new things, and enjoy everything life had to offer.
Behind his smile and love of life was an exceptional son and brother. Liam deeply respected and appreciated his family and was always looking out for his parents and siblings. He showed a level of maturity and responsibility far beyond his years.
While still in school, Liam worked and supported himself, driven by a determination to achieve every goal he set. And he did. His driver’s license, his own car, meaningful combat service—whatever Liam set his sights on, he pursued through hard work and belief in himself.
Liam was immensely proud to serve as a combat soldier in the Golani Brigade.
“Only Golani, only Battalion 13, and only Company B,” he would proudly say.
He served as a combat soldier and Namer gunner, motivated by a deep sense of purpose, brotherhood, and love for the Land of Israel.
On the 13th of Iyar, 5786 (April 30, 2026), Liam fell while serving in Lebanon when an explosive drone struck the Namer armored personnel carrier he was in.
Liam left behind a loving family, countless friends, and many broken hearts. But he also left behind a powerful light, an extraordinary love of life, and the example of a young man who was never afraid to dream, to pursue his goals, and to love wholeheartedly.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May his memory be a blessing.
