Staff Sergeant

Uri Jerbi Z”L

Fell in battle: ח' שבט תשפ"ד | 18.01.2024

A fighter in the Givati Reconnaissance Unit, 20 years old at the time of his death.
The eldest son of Naomi and Hagai, and brother to Yuval.

He lived in Herzliya and studied biology and business management, excelling
academically.
Uri was deeply loved by his parents and entire family. He was a devoted and caring
older brother to his sister, with whom he shared a warm and loving bond. “We were
best friends before we were siblings,” his sister said.

Uri trained at the “Bnei Herzliya” Tennis Center and was one of the club’s standout
players.
He was known for his sensitivity toward others and often helped students who faced
social exclusion or bullying. At the tennis club, he supported a boy who had been
ostracized at his previous school and helped him integrate socially and athletically.
“That encounter was one of the most important moments of my life,” that boy later
wrote. “Uri did everything opposite of what I had experienced before. He gave me
hope that there are good people in the world who truly want to help and do good.”

On the night of January 17, 2024, during a daring and complex mission in Khan Yunis
in southern Gaza, Uri’s unit encountered and eliminated dozens of terrorists deep
within enemy territory. During the battle, Uri was critically wounded and evacuated
to Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva. After fighting for his life for more than a
day, he succumbed to his wounds.
