Master Sergeant Ofer Jung Z”L
Fell in battle on the 6th of Shevat, 5785 (February 4, 2025)
He was 39 years old.
Son of Celia and Jorge. Grew up in Haifa.
Brother to Meirav and Hadass.
On April 9, 2024, Ofer was called up for reserve duty and served in the Infantry Corps.
He was married to Dana, and together they had two children – Ori and Eitan.
Speaking about the attack in which he fell, his mother said:
“He never ran away from responsibility; he always helped his friends – and that’s how he went. He told us his unit was called again for reserve duty and that some didn’t show up. When we asked, ‘Why don’t you stay home with Dana and the kids?’ he answered, ‘If my country calls me – I go.’
He saw that his friend had been hit and tried to bring him to safety so he could be treated – and that’s when they shot him too. He wasn’t afraid of anything. We taught him to always help his friends, and that’s exactly what he did. He never wanted to be a hero.”
His sister Meirav shared :
“He was a genius. At the age of two, he was already discovering scientific principles — he knew the speed of light when he was still in kindergarten. From the earliest age, he was a scientist. They took him straight from school to study at the Technion. I feel the need to emphasize how extraordinary his brilliance was. I will miss him in the little things.”
